ISU Startup Factory Looking to Broaden Mentor Network

The ISU Startup Factory is nearing the mid-point in its 26-week program. The early-stage founders have learned about communication, prospecting, and have been working hard at customer discovery. The program is heading into the execution phase, helping founders draft their commercialization plans, prioritize, and practice their three-minute pitches. To continue to support them as they build forward, the Startup Factory is seeking mentors to join founders as they build their businesses.

Mentorship with SUF has three levels:

  1. Subject Matter Expert: Available to teach a workshop, meet 1:1, or hold office hours to provide feedback based on your area of expertise. Commitment: 1-2h/quarter.
  2. On-Call Advisor: Flexible mentors that take on the Subject Matter Expert role, as well as an openness to being called upon when a need arises. Think, standing in for a couple mentor advisory meetings to fill a gap, or hold several sessions of office hours. Commitment: 2h/month+
  3. Core Team Mentor: Mentors match with a founder and meet regularly to provide ongoing support, coaching, and guidance as the founder builds their business. Core teams meet at least 2x/month.

If you’re interested in learning more about the founders in the Factory, you can join the upcoming virtual Mentor Preview event on Wednesday, September 15 (3-4:30). Startup Factory founders will pitch, then be available for free-form networking. During the event, mentors will be able to indicate interest in specific companies after they pitch. The Startup Factory team will follow up with introductions and next steps after the event!
